Carbon Crowd – Ep. 2 Epiphyte Build #1: Hello World!

Join OpenAir’s Team Epiphyte for a status report on the first, in-progress Carbon Crowd build of our open source DAC prototype, live from UPenn in Philadelphia! We are two weeks in and the main elements are coming together. We look forward to sharing and getting your input, wherever you may be in the world!

About Epiphyte

Epiphyte is an open source direct air capture (DAC) prototype that was designed by OpenAir members and inspired by the Octavia Carbon team’s DAC work in Kenya. Twice a month our global maker community is invited to tune in for updates and ideas, as we track the progress and completion of our very first prototype from the the University of Pennsylvania Chemical Engineering Department in Philadelphia, PA!

How Carbon Crowd works – 

• Every 2 months our global community will build a new instance of Epiphyte with a new team at a new site somewhere in the world.
• Each new build will focus on a specific problem, optimization or augmentation that represents design improvement and evolution.
• Our distributed community can tune in every Wednesday at 1pm ET for a progress report from the build team, and to offer ideas and help on how to trouble-shoot problems and surface new design ideas.

All are welcome, and participants are invited to share their knowledge and insights, or just pop in and watch!
