Concrete is the most used building material on Earth, and its main binding ingredient, Portland cement, is responsible for up to 8% of global carbon emissions.
There are low-carbon alternatives available, but manufacturers don’t yet have the demand for it. Here in New Jersey, a new bill introduced by Asm. Andrew Zwicker would set up incentives for state-funded projects to use low-carbon concrete, which could jumpstart the market for this innovative technology.
