On June 30th OpenAir co-hosted and moderated The Hastings Resolution: Decarbonizing Concrete through Local Government Action. Co-sponsored by the village of Hastings-on-Hudson, the hour-long webinar aimed to educate participants throughout New York State and beyond about the critical link between concrete and climate change, and how local governments can lead the charge to decarbonize this most common construction material.
With over. 100 viewers tuned in the program included a 25-minute presentation covering climate-concrete basics, before turning to an extensive conversation about Hastings’ recently passed resolution in support of low carbon concrete with the village’s mayor Nicola Armacost and members of its board of trustees and Climate Smart Communities task force. Given high attendance from local government. representatives from throughout. New York State and a high volume of inquires post webinar, OpenAir looks to continue to build interest in the subject and encourage other local jurisdictions to follow Hastings’ lead and adopt the resolution.
