Our biggest piece of earned media for the NYS Low Embodied Carbon Concrete Leadership Act came last week with the publication of an excellent feature in the American Prospect’s online magazine. Titled “Can the Concrete Jungle Sink Carbon?”, the piece pulls together expert perspectives on low embodied carbon concrete, places our bill within a global context of action, and links it directly to New York State’s ambitious emissions reductions goals.

The American Prospect is a highly regarded journal co-founded by former U.S. Secretary of Labor and progressive commentator Robert Reich. It caters to a very wonky liberal readership, which explains why the article goes into more depth on policy points than most other leading political journals probably would. This high level of policy substance makes it a great tool for not only impressing legislators and their staff, but also educating them about what the bill is all about – a critical task at this stage.
